AI Engineer (Applied/Software), Backend Developer, AWS, Software Engineer
Shot Tracker is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team and help build the technology powering the next generation of sports data and analytics.
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who loves solving complex problems, building reliable and scalable systems, and finding smarter ways to develop great software. You’ll work alongside Engineering, Product, and Data Science to turn ideas and requirements into solutions that directly support our products and customers.
You’ll also work in an environment where AI is becoming an integral part of how we build. We’re looking for an engineer who is already comfortable using AI-assisted development tools and is excited to continue exploring how agentic workflows, prompt engineering, and emerging technologies can make software development faster and better, without sacrificing quality.
WHAT YOU’LL DO- Design Solutions: Translate product and business requirements into thoughtful technical designs built for performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Own Quality: Write clean, maintainable code, participate in code reviews, build automated tests, and help maintain high engineering standards.
- Develop with AI: Use tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Git Hub Copilot, and other AI-assisted development technologies for coding, refactoring, debugging, testing, and review.
- Explore Agentic Development: Incorporate agentic and autonomous coding workflows to support increasingly sophisticated development tasks and processes.
- Build Integrations: Develop and maintain APIs, Web Socket functionality, real‑time frameworks, and integrations across Shot Tracker systems.
- Work in the Cloud: Build and support solutions using AWS technologies including DynamoDB, EC2, ALB, ECS, Systems Manager, and related services.
- Power Real-Time Data: Work with technologies including NATS Pub Sub, Apache Ignite, and Tinybird to support real‑time and distributed systems.
- Partner with Data Science: Collaborate on feature pipelines, model serving APIs, data requirements, and the integration of Data Science capabilities into Shot Tracker products.
- Solve Problems: Dig into complex technical challenges, identify root causes, and build solutions that improve system performance, stability, and reliability.
- Keep Improving: Help us improve our architecture, development practices, automation, tooling, and the way our engineering team works.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field with 4+ years of software engineering experience, or 6+ years of equivalent professional software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Java development, object‑oriented programming, and modern software design principles.

- Experience with Git based version control, Bitbucket, Jira, and Agile development practices.
- Strong technical problem‑solving skills and the ability to independently investigate and resolve complex software and system issues.
- The ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with engineers, Data Science, Product, and other cross‑functional partners.
AI isn’t an add‑on to this role. It’s increasingly part of how our engineering team works.
You should be comfortable using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Cursor, Git Hub Copilot, or comparable tools throughout the development lifecycle. Experience with agentic or autonomous coding workflows and…
