The J’s basketball program emphasizes fun, safety, and convenience and teaches the value of good sportsmanship. Our Pre‑K (Jump Start Program) coaches play a pivotal role in creating these positive and developmentally appropriate environments for our youngest players. Experience as a coach, player, or referee is preferred, but not mandatory.

We are hiring reliable part‑time staff to assist with practices and coach games for our Winter Jump Start Basketball program. The Winter season is from January 4th – February 15th
. The program meets every Sunday during these dates from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

• Coach basketball practices and games for ages 4‑5
• Teach basic basketball skills using age‑appropriate equipment and progressions
• Supervise children ages 4 to 5 years old
• Collaborate with program staff to ensure smooth session flow

• Free Individual Membership to The J
• $18 per session (3‑5 sessions every Sunday)

• Experience working with young children (ages 3‑6) preferred
• Experience as a coach, referee, or player is preferred
• Knowledge of basketball and its rules
• Able to create an engaging and energetic environment
• Able to work flexible Sundays from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
• Must have reliable transportation

• Constant talking and hearing to communicate with players and officials
• Frequent standing, walking, and eye/hand/foot coordination in a generally loud gymnasium environment
• Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling of 25 lbs, stooping/crouching, sitting, climbing stairs/ladders throughout the building and on the court, and repetitive motions to demonstrate and execute skills
