Head Dive Coach – Overland Park, KS

The City of Overland Park has a seasonal Head Dive Coach position available in the Parks and Recreation Department.

Summary

Provides coaching and instruction of competitive skills to participants of the OP Waves youth dive team program.

Responsibilities
  • Assures the safety of the class participants in and out of the pool.
  • Provides instruction and demonstration of competitive diving skills for all levels of ability.
  • Prepares and submits entries for participants in dive meets.
  • Makes sure the employee works the days and hours necessary to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks. Must be available (especially during regular business hours or shifts) to communicate with subordinates, supervisors, customers, vendors and any other persons or organization with whom interaction is required to accomplish work and employer goals.
  • Makes sure the employee is punctual and timely in meeting all requirement of performance, including, but not limited to, attendance standards and work deadlines.
  • Includes tasks, physical and mental requirements, visual requirements, unique physical surroundings and mental/cognitive requirements listed in the Position Description Questionnaire and Task Analysis Worksheet.
Education & Special Licenses/Certifications
  • Basic education equaling 10 grades.
  • Minimum of 16 years of age.
Experience
  • Previous dive team experience.
Skills
  • Good oral communication skills.
  • Basic swimming skills.
  • Patience.
Mental Requirements
  • Ability to analyze situations and use judgment in responding.
  • Ability to remain alert for long periods of time.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and transport over 20 feet.
  • Ability to swim 50 yards.
  • Ability to perform dives that are being taught.
  • Ability to withstand temperature extremes.
  • High exposure to sun.
Supervisory Responsibility
  • Assistant Diving Coach.

No City residency requirement.

Must successfully pass a background check, drug screen, physical exam and essential functions test.

Variable Hours - PT/SEA/TMP

Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour
