OverviewThe SPARK Teacher provides childcare to students before school starts and after the normal school day has ended. The primary responsibilities are ensuring the safety and well‑being of children in their care, while also providing instruction or educational support in coordination with the school or district. Teachers create and implement lesson plans, supervise activities, and work under the direction of the site leader.
EssentialFunctions
- Facilitate core programming to advance the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of children.
- Maintain a safe working environment and safe conditions for all students and staff.
- Contribute ideas for enrichment activities, arts and crafts projects, and program quality.
- Work with the Program Director and Site Leader to make appropriate referrals as needed.
- Effectively communicate with parents of students as needed to achieve program goals.
- Contribute to the overall success of the program by performing all assigned duties in a professional, timely, and accurate manner.
- Develop positive relationships with families, teachers, state licensing authorities, community contacts and school site partners.
- Assist students with homework, monitor outdoor recess, and coordinate scheduled activities.
- Regularly participate in staff training/continued education or staff meetings.
- Assist with special projects.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the administrator.
Education and Experience
- CPR Certification or willingness to become certified
- First Aid Certification or willingness to become certified
- Must be at least 16 years of age and have completed 10th grade or above.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Great interpersonal skills and exceptional time‑management.
- Computer literate; excellent written and oral communication.
- Strong knowledge of district policies, Oklahoma State Department of Education regulations, and special education rules.
- Ability to work independently and as a team player, documenting records accurately and managing confidential information.
- Strong communication with faculty, staff, and administrators; ability to maintain emotional control when working with students exhibiting non‑compliant behaviors.
Physical Demands
Regularly required to talk or hear; must stand, sit, walk, and occasionally lift/move up to 30 lbs. Requires close vision and ability to adjust focus.
Work EnvironmentPrimarily inside; occasional outdoor supervision. Moderate noise level. Must have personal transportation.
