Job Summary

Contract position with potential for permanent. Job Code: CVDJP.

Location:

Owasso, OK.

Schedule:

Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM. Duration: 3 rotations of 12 weeks each (approximately 6 months) with potential for permanent placement. Benefits are available.

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Work independently and within a team environment.
• Proficient with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
• Demonstrate high attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills.
• Pass a standardized color vision screen.
• Be flexible to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science, or
• BS in Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science from an accredited college or university with at least one year of training or experience in the specialty, equivalent to that received in a school of Medical Technology.
• 90 semester hours from an accredited institution that include: 16 semester hours of Biology, 16 semester hours of Chemistry (including at least 6 hours of inorganic chemistry), and 3 semester hours of Mathematics, along with having completed an accredited Clinical Laboratory training program, one year of documented Clinical Laboratory training, or experience in the specialty.
• Associate’s degree in Medical Technology.

Applicants must meet CLIA standards for testing.

ASCP or AMT certification preferred. Basic Blood Bank experience is required.

Generalist – Hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, etc. Group types and screens with no antibody identification.
