We are seeking a highly skilled and detail‑driven CNC Programmer to support machining operations for complex aerospace components. The CNC Programmer will create CNC programs for mills and lathes, design tooling and fixturing, support machinists during prove‑outs, and ensure precise, safe, and efficient production processes.
Key Responsibilities- Plan upcoming machining jobs with strong accuracy and attention to detail
- Request tooling and cutting tools through management or purchasing departments
- Create CNC programs for mills and lathes using engineering drawings, blueprints, and solid models
- Design and develop custom tooling and fixturing for accurate setups
- Generate clear and accurate setup sheets and operation instructions
- Collaborate with machinists during job prove‑outs
, modifying programs as needed for safety and efficiency - Perform first‑article verifications to ensure specifications are met
- Evaluate tooling options and work with tooling vendors to optimize solutions
- Provide after‑hours programming and support to minimize downtime
- Train, mentor, and support less‑experienced programmers and machinists
- Analyze and implement process improvements to boost efficiency and reduce scrap
- Maintain CNC programs, tooling parameters, cutting data, and documentation in company systems
- Assist with general shop tasks, organization, and workflow needs
- Adapt to evolving duties based on operational requirements
- Minimum 10 years CNC machining & setup experience plus 5 years of CNC programming
- Proficiency with Mastercam (preferred), Fusion 360, Gibbs Cam, or similar CAM software
- Strong understanding of aerospace machining tolerances as tight as ±0.0003''
- Ability to determine proper tool selection, speeds, and feeds across various materials
- Skilled in designing tooling and fixtures for complex parts
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T proficiency
- Exceptional problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to collaborate closely with machinists to optimize machining strategies
- High work ethic, accountability, and willingness to work overtime, weekends, or short‑notice assignments
