As the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager
, you'll play a key role in ensuring Life Fitness / Hammer Strength's Owatonna manufacturing facility continues to be a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace by providing the knowledge and experience necessary to directly alleviate safety and environmental concerns through the initiation of proactive and corrective activities and maintain full regulatory compliance.

This position is based out of our manufacturing facility in Owatonna, MN, and requires occasional lifting of 35 lbs. and a combination of shop floor and office environment. In some areas of the shop floor, hearing protection is required.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain environmental health and safety programs/policies, training and metrics to ensure compliance with corporate guidelines and federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Implementation, review, and auditing of company’s SMS (Safety Management System) in accordance with corporate guidelines.
  • Serve as technical resource within the management team to achieve overall environmental, safety, operational and business objectives regarding safety and environmental concerns.
  • Lead and participate in safety audits, ergonomic assessments, GWI’s and inspections. Work with managers to eliminate program deficiencies.
  • Lead cross functional safety committee and participate in company level EHS projects. Recommend corrective action plans.
  • Monitor and oversee environmental programs with consultant/auditor and facilities team to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Support and participate in the analysis of all safety incidents and near misses with department manager to define and deploy safety solutions and corrective actions.
  • Maintain safety file information such as Employee Training Records, Right-To-Know, Global Harmonized System, Industrial Hygiene Reports, Inspection forms, OSHA log etc.
  • Lead and participate in first responders, recruit new first responders and coordinate training.
  • Conduct safety orientations for new hires ensuring an understanding of company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in industrial safety or related field and minimum of 3 years’ leadership experience with Environmental, Health and Safety regulations within an industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations, including OSHA regulations and compliance methods.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills and experience training diverse groups.
  • Must possess strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of ergonomic programs and analysis tools.
