Social Worker - Child & Family - Assessments

This position is responsible for conducting family assessments or investigations following reports of child maltreatment that are screened in for a child protection response. It is also responsible for assessing and evaluating safety needs of children, assessing family functioning by identifying family strengths and needs and developing safety plans for children.
Responsibilities- Assess the psychosocial, behavioral, medical and safety needs of clients and families to coordinate appropriate services as needed through ongoing communication with clients, families and providers.
- Creates and implement detailed service plans to identify and manage goals, services and resources specific to each client.
- Maintaining paper, electronic and database filing systems to meet federal, state and local mandates and timelines.
- Analyzes and investigates critical circumstances; manages crisis situations where imminent danger to self or others is apparent or possible.
- Prepares extensive and comprehensive social histories; home studies; case plans; case records; court reports, petitions and testimony; appear personally in court to represent MNPrairie.
- Collaborates with state, federal and local entities; other service providers including schools, mental health professionals, court personnel, attorneys, home care providers and managed care organizations regarding policies, funding and service delivery.
- Organizes, provides and participates in ongoing training to increase community knowledge and skills.
- Be available for on call/after hours rotation.
- Performs related work as assigned

Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a closely related field.
- OR Bachelor's degree in another field, plus at least 1 year of supervised experience delivering social services to children as a caseworker in a public or private social service agency.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass a background check.
