WhatYou’ll Do
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Engineer Student will assist in projects that may include road construction, bridge replacements, surveying, project design, cost estimating, site inspections, traffic calming planning, speed analysis and County owned asset locates. The incumbent may be required to attend site meetings on active construction sites and learn about the construction process. We encourage students to run a project, under supervision, to acquire experience and learnings in the field of municipal engineering management.

Contract Duration: 16 weeks, May to August 2026
What We’re Looking ForEducation & Experience
- Must be enrolled in a Civil Engineering Technology diploma program with good standing
- Experience in Microsoft software products (Excel, Word, etc.)
Skills & Abilities
- Familiar with the current municipal and Ontario Provincial Standards and Specifications
- Familiar of the contents of a contract document, tender form, and construction schedules
- Has acquired an understanding of topographic surveying methodology
- Has construction safety awareness
- Has some awareness of The Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Process
- MTO Class G driver’s license in good standing
- Strong organization skills
- Ability to solve problems
- Familiar with preparing and conducting post‑implementation evaluations
- Analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
- Ability to work as a team player
- Competitive Salary: $20.10 per hour
- Hours per week: 35
