What will you be doing!
- Preparing, reviewing, and revising radiation protection manual procedures to ensure alignment with current standards.
- Performing effectiveness reviews and self-assessments to ensure the RP(Radiation Protection) program remains compliant and effective.
- Monitoring RP-related non-conformances and implementing corrective actions.
- Conducting compliance inspections and participating in annual RP program reviews to verify ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Developing and implementing RP controls, processes, and procedures tailored to assigned facilities and projects.
- Performing radiological work and dose assessments, ensuring safe radiation exposure levels are maintained.
- Leading ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) assessments and post-work reviews to minimize radiation exposure.
- Preparing, reviewing, and approving radiological work permits, plans, and procedures.
- Responding to and investigating RP-related unplanned events, identifying root causes and providing corrective recommendations.
- Reviewing and approving radiation source registration, records, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Providing oversight on the radiation source leak testing program to maintain safety standards.
- Conducting facility compliance inspections to ensure proper safety practices.
- Reviewing and approving Controlled Area (CA) lunch and beverage room registrations, as well as CA food passes, to ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Overseeing the selection and procurement of radiation and contamination measuring and monitoring equipment, ensuring the equipment meets project requirements.
- Ensuring the proper source checking, alarm testing, and calibration of RP instrumentation.
- Reviewing gamma spectroscopy results, interpreting the data and offering feedback on its applicability to safety measures.
- Reviewing waste characterization plans, including scope, characterization methodology, and radiological surveys for safe waste disposal.
- Assisting in the delivery, development and maintenance of radiation protection training and RP Program elements for CNL staff and subcontractors.
- Overseeing internal and external dosimetry programs for CNL personnel and contractors, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
- Leading investigations into accidents, incidents, and radiation safety breaches, identifying corrective actions and lessons learned.
- Supporting audits and other regulatory obligations to ensure the company meets all compliance standards.

What We Are Looking For
- Education
- University Degree in Health Physics or an honours degree in Science or Engineering with postgraduate studies and/or experience in health physics or related discipline.
- Experience
- Minimum of three years of technical experience or technical knowledge of a broad range of radiation protection instrumentation.
- Minimum three years as an operational Health Physicist in a relevant field or CNL Group 1 Health Physics Qualification.
- Experience resolving complex technical challenges, from both a strategic and execution-level perspective.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of CNL’s practices, procedures, and organization is an asset.
- Ability to be tactful, diplomatic, and work effectively with staff from other functional areas/missions/sites.
- Knowledge of computers, including using and programming data acquisition systems and processing of scientific data.
- Knowledge of Radiation Protection Regulations and scientific and mathematical principles.
- Ability to maintain and continually improve working relationships with colleagues and customers.
- Demonstrated possession of a high sense of individual responsibility and the ability to work independently and as a team.
