Water&Wastewaterteamasa Water Distribution Operator  .Reportingtothe Water Distribution Superintendentandreceivingdailydirectionfromthe Water Distribution Lead Hand ,thispositionplaysacriticalroleindeliveringsafe,reliabledrinkingwatertoourcommunitythroughtheoperation,maintenance,andrepairofthe

City'swaterdistributioninfrastructure.
Thispositionisresponsibleformaintainingwaterdistributionassets,respondingtoemergenciesandcustomerconcerns,participatinginon-calloperations,andensuringcompliancewithprovincialregulationsandindustrybestpractices.

Thispositionisbeingpostedforanexistingvacancy.
What You’llDo  Water Distribution Operations &Maintenance   Operate,maintain,andrepairwaterdistributioninfrastructure,includingwatermains,valves,hydrants,water services,pressureregulatingvalves,andwatermeters.
Install,inspect,andmaintainfirehydrantsandassociatedinfrastructure.
Troubleshootandrepairwaterleaksthroughoutthedistributionsystem.
Assistwithinspectionsandroutineoperationsatreservoirs,pumping stations,valvechambers,andthe

Water Treatment Plant .
Participateinplannedmaintenanceactivitiesandemergencysystemshutdownsorbypassesasrequired.
Equipment Operation&Infrastructure Support   Safelyoperateequipmentandvehiclesusedinwaterdistributionmaintenance,includingbackhoes,dump trucks,tappingmachines,leakdetectionequipment,andutilitylocatingequipment.
Locateundergroundwaterinfrastructure,street lighting,andtrafficsignalassets.
Assistwithwintermaintenanceofhydrants,includingsnowclearingandinspections.
Performtrafficcontrolactivitiesandroadclosurecoordinationasrequired.
Supportsnowclearingoperationsonsidewalksandroadwayswhenneeded.
Customer Service&Emergency Response   Respondtocustomerinquiriesandservicerequestsrelatedtoflooding,waterserviceinterruptions,leaks,low pressure,frozenservices,andotherdistributionconcerns.
Participateinarotatingon-callscheduletorespondtoafter-hours emergencies.
Assistinmaintainingreliablewaterserviceduringemergenciesandplannedmaintenanceactivities.
Workcollaborativelywithcontractors,Citystaff,regulatoryofficials,andthepublic.
Compliance,Documentation&Asset Management   Maintainaccuratelogs,records,servicecards,fieldnotes,anddistributionsystemdocumentation.
UpdateGISrecordsanddistributionsysteminformationwheninfrastructurechangesoccur.
Completerequiredregulatoryandoperationaldocumentation.
Participateinongoingtrainingandcertificationrequirementsinaccordancewith Provincialregulations.
Supportcontinuousimprovementandassetmanagementinitiativeswithinthe Water Distribution System .
Health&Safety   Performallworkinaccordancewith City policies,procedures,andthe

Occupational Healthand Safety Act .
Participateactivelyinhealthandsafetyprograms,training,and initiatives.
Reporthazards,incidents,accidents,near misses,illnesses,andinjuriespromptly.

What We’reLooking

For  Education&Experience   College Diplomainarelatedfield,or Grade
12diplomacombinedwithrelevantexperienceandcertification.
Ministryofthe Environment Water Distribution System Operator Certification .
Water Distribution Level IICertificationorhigherispreferred.
Previousexperienceworkinginamunicipalwaterdistributionenvironment.
Experienceoperatingconstructionandmaintenanceequipmentrelatedtowaterdistributionsystems.
Skills&Competencies   Valid

ClassDZDriver'sLicence.
Knowledgeofwaterdistributionsystems,infrastructuremaintenancepractices,andregulatoryrequirements.
Knowledgeofundergroundutilitiesandconstructiontechniques.
