Under the supervision of the Radiation Safety and/or the Project Supervisor, you will lead a team of Decontamination Technicians, contribute to the decontamination processes (using power tools to grind & drill and chemicals), hot maintenance and activities related to radiation protection and nuclear safety. You will be responsible for assisting in maintenance and decontamination using various processes; conducting direct, indirect and dose surveys;
and provide radiological oversight, in addition to any other tasks that are assigned to you by your supervisors periodically. You will be involved in various projects that have a direct impact on the success of the company. - Proven ability to supervise and direct a team including conducting pre-job briefs, tool box talks and assigning daily tasks
- Decontamination of items & tools using proper decontamination techniques and PPE (Use of Power Tools to grind & drill and chemicals in decontamination process)
- Conducting direct, indirect and dose surveys using a variety of radiation detection instruments
- Performing source checks on radiation detection instruments
- Performing water and air sample monitoring
- Performing internal calibrations on RP equipment
- Providing Radiological oversight for required jobs and tasks
- Receiving and preparing radioactive shipments
- Ability to record, update, create, and complete documentation
- Performing Radiation related services and operations in the Laundry
- Inspections and maintenance of equipment used in the departments you are assigned to and recording of the same
- Inform your direct supervisors of any unsafe acts and or conditions observed at the facility
- Perform work as prescribed in any department within the facility after directions and training is provided
- When requested by Company and if possible, make yourself available for training outside of regular work hours
- Decontamination: 10 years
- Radiation Protection: 10 years
- Two years of college in a technician or equivalent
- Green Badge
- Millwright or boilermaker training and/or experience
- Knowledge of radiation protection principles and regulations.
- Experience using heavy mechanical, pneumatic & electrical tools
