Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the HR Generalist is responsible for the effective administration of all HR tasks for the Hanover Operations Centre. The HR Generalist is a subject matter expert in providing front-line HR customer services to employees and management in matters relating to time & attendance, recruitment, onboarding, absence management, benefits, health and safety, incentives, and rewards. They will work as part of a collaborative HR Team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full cycle recruitment for both union and non-union positions
  • Coordinate the employee onboarding, orientation, and safety training
  • Maintain accurate employee records
  • Support employee relations and provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, and employment legislation

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management
  • 1 – 3 years HR experience preferred; however, recent graduates will be considered and are encouraged to apply
  • Detail oriented and resourceful self-starter with demonstrated ability to take initiative
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong interpersonal skills with sound written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to handle sensitive issues in a professional manner
  • Experience in dealing with the public, handling inquiries, and working in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is essential along with well-established organization skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities while recognizing priorities
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Excel and database applications
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset
  • Dayforce HRIS/payroll system (Ceridian) experience is an asset
