Overview

The Data Engineer will be responsible for building and optimizing scalable data infrastructure to support AI/ML models, analytics, and customer-facing products. The role demands expertise in cloud-native ETL/ELT workflows, real-time and batch processing, and data warehousing. This is a hands-on role interfacing with cross-functional teams including data scientists, product managers, and backend engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain ETL/ELT workflows using Python, SQL, and orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, Dagster)
• Build and optimize data lakes and warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, Big Query) using lake-house principles
• Develop and manage real-time pipelines with tools like Kafka, Kinesis, or Pub/Sub
• Implement CI/CD for data pipelines with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Cloud Formation)
• Partner with data scientists to create features and with engineers to expose data via APIs
• Ensure data quality through testing, monitoring, and alerting
• Maintain compliance with data privacy/security standards (e.g., SOC
  2)
• Support performance tracking, incident analysis, and agile iteration cycles

Requirement Qualifications

• 3–8 years of experience in data engineering or backend development
• Expert in Python, Spark, and advanced SQL
• Experience with AWS stack (Glue, Redshift, Athena, Kinesis, S3, EMR)
• Familiar with orchestration tools and version-controlled ELT frameworks (dbt)
• Proficient in data modeling and tools like Snowflake, DBT, and Looker
• Exposure to Azure tools (Synapse, Data Factory, Azure SQL)
• Comfortable with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and Dev Ops practices
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Candidate Details

• Must be able to work US hours from LATAM or Canada
• Should bring strong cloud and data pipeline expertise
• Ideal candidate has worked with cross-functional teams and supported analytics/ML workloads
