Overview
The Data Engineer will be responsible for building and optimizing scalable data infrastructure to support AI/ML models, analytics, and customer-facing products. The role demands expertise in cloud-native ETL/ELT workflows, real-time and batch processing, and data warehousing. This is a hands-on role interfacing with cross-functional teams including data scientists, product managers, and backend engineers.

Responsibilities
- Design and maintain ETL/ELT workflows using Python, SQL, and orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, Dagster)
- Build and optimize data lakes and warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, Big Query) using lake-house principles
- Develop and manage real-time pipelines with tools like Kafka, Kinesis, or Pub/Sub
- Implement CI/CD for data pipelines with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Cloud Formation)
- Partner with data scientists to create features and with engineers to expose data via APIs
- Ensure data quality through testing, monitoring, and alerting
- Maintain compliance with data privacy/security standards (e.g., SOC
2) - Support performance tracking, incident analysis, and agile iteration cycles
- 3–8 years of experience in data engineering or backend development
- Expert in Python, Spark, and advanced SQL
- Experience with AWS stack (Glue, Redshift, Athena, Kinesis, S3, EMR)
- Familiar with orchestration tools and version-controlled ELT frameworks (dbt)
- Proficient in data modeling and tools like Snowflake, DBT, and Looker
- Exposure to Azure tools (Synapse, Data Factory, Azure SQL)
- Comfortable with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) and Dev Ops practices
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Must be able to work US hours from LATAM or Canada
- Should bring strong cloud and data pipeline expertise
- Ideal candidate has worked with cross-functional teams and supported analytics/ML workloads
