Ammunition Technician
Location:
Meaford, Ontario – 4th Canadian Division Training Centre.
This role involves managing receipt, storage, issue, transportation and disposal of ammunition and explosives while ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Key duties include inspecting and preparing ammunition, maintaining accurate documentation, conducting inspections and advising on explosive safety.
Responsibilities- Select, inspect, and prepare ammunition for issue.
- Inspect and repackage stores upon receipt.
- Receive stores from other facilities or manufacturers.
- Verify and complete all supply documentation before forwarding to inventory control.
- Conduct periodic ammunition inspections.
- Inspect and segregate aides‑to‑production, ammo scrap and munitions scrap.
- Dispose of non‑serviceable non‑explosive stores and salvage materials.
- Store all items in accordance with policies.
- Prepare shipments of ammunition, explosives, components and general stores.
- Create transport documentation compliant with laws for dangerous goods.
- Ensure compliance with and provide guidance on handling, storage and transport regulations.
- Complete special projects by required deadlines.
- Maintain excellent customer service and a safe working environment.
- Comply with all DND and Canadian Base Operators policies.
- Rank Qualified Corporal Ammunition Technician (ALGL) or Civilian Ammunition Technician (CAT) 2, minimum.
- Current in AT trade related competencies.
- Current 3K Transport of Dangerous Goods certification is an asset.
- 4 years as military or civilian Ammunition Technician, or combination thereof.
Proficient knowledge of:
- Forklifts, pallet jacks, carts.
- 3‑ton truck with airbrake certification.
- Zoom boom (RTFL).
- Valid class G driver’s licence with a clear record; ability to obtain and maintain a military 404 licence.
- MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- AIMS, DRMIS, AESIMS are assets.
Full vaccination may be required prior to hire. Continuous residency in Canada for the last 10 years is mandatory for a Government of Canada Security Clearance.
Security ClearanceIndividuals who complete the interview process and do not already hold a valid clearance will be sponsored for Secret Clearance. Applicants must undergo a comprehensive 10‑year background check; continuous residency in Canada for the last 10 years is required.
