Procurement Manager (Meat) - Food Manufacturing

This growing national food manufacturer is looking for a Procurement Manager – Meat to join their expanding team. This individual will lead strategic sourcing, supplier management, and cost optimization for a high-volume protein category that supports multiple production facilities.

Base pay range: $/yr – $/yr

What You’ll Do

  • Lead all aspects of meat procurement to ensure raw material availability aligns with production and inventory goals.
  • Analyze supplier yield and performance metrics to uncover opportunities for improvement and cost savings.
  • Develop and maintain sourcing strategies that balance cost, quality, and reliability across multiple protein suppliers.
  • Evaluate supplier performance using scorecards focused on quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness.
  • Oversee replenishment and purchasing activities to minimize waste and optimize inventory turnover.
  • Partner with Quality, R&D, and Operations teams to resolve any specification or compliance issues.
  • Support new product development and reformulation initiatives by identifying qualified suppliers and securing cost‑competitive materials.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement data, contracts, and pricing within ERP systems.
  • Build and sustain strong supplier relationships rooted in transparency, accountability, and performance improvement.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Meat or Animal Science, Business, or a related field.
  • 5–8 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management within the meat or protein industry.
  • Hands‑on experience managing raw material supply chains and knowledge of USDA regulations and cold chain logistics.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills, with a track record of balancing cost, quality, and service.
  • Proven ability to interpret data, perform yield and cost analysis, and drive margin improvement initiatives.
  • Skilled in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and advanced Excel or data analytics tools.
  • A strategic, analytical mindset paired with a practical, hands‑on approach to execution.
