The Surveyor will report to the Project Superintendent and work closely with the operations team and staff at all levels, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
Thalle, established in 1947, is a heavy civil construction company with a corporate office in Hillsborough, NC and a regional office in Alvarado, Texas. Job TitleConstruction Surveyor
SalaryCompetitive compensation package based on experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assists with survey computations and data collection including construction layout calculations, grade sheet computation, topographical/volume analysis, and project data conversion/transformation.
- Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and as‑built surveys.
- Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain.
- Oversee survey aspects of civil engineering projects and/or direct preparation of all types of survey plans.
- Conduct plan research and review.
- Perform fieldwork associated with land surveying.
- Conduct business with 100% integrity and professionalism.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with heavy civil projects and structures.
- Experience with robotic total station, GPS, and level.
- Experience with AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of geological description principles and methods.
- Knowledge of applicable laws, legal codes, and government regulations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Must be detail oriented, organized, focused, self‑motivated, possess good work ethic and be a team player.
- Ability to travel will be required.
- Valid driver’s license required, and candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Report background check.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA and other standards.
- Must be able to work outdoors on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
