Maintenance, Refrigeration Technician, Evening Shift - Specialty Foods Group, LLC - Owensboro, Kentucky
Specialty Foods Group, LLC (SFG), a dynamic pork processor and packager based in Owensboro, Kentucky, is looking for a motivated Mechanical Maintenance Technician to work in our world‑class facility. The Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the production operation by minimizing equipment downtime and completing preventative and corrective maintenance.

Responsibilities:- Check readings from refrigeration compressors, air compressors, water supply pressure, boiler pressure, hot water temperatures and record on proper paperwork
- Take boiler water samples for testing, record findings
- Check boiler water feed temperatures (needs to be 228 degrees), if not take corrective action
- Check list of repairs from supervisor, ensure repairs are done
- Repair anything from sight
- Do hourly checks on water pressure, temperatures and air pressure
- Take midday reading of refrigeration equipment
- Check & repair refrigeration equipment in the plant
- Record plant temperatures in all areas and in coolers
- Preventative maintenance in engine room
- Clean engine & boiler rooms daily
- Other duties may be assigned by supervisor
- Must pass maintenance test
- Electrical knowledge
- Basic computer skills
- Must be able to pass Hazmat certification (including physical)
- Mechanical skills
- Plumbing skills
- Ability to work in extreme hot, cold, wet, humid, and odorous environments
- Uphold company policies and ethical standards
- Commitment to follow safety policies and practices
- Willingness to complete Confined Space training
- Certificate of completion in operators #1 ammonia
- Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs. twice each shift minimum
- Prolonged standing/walking
- Ability to stoop, stand, push, pull repetitively
- Ability to work in temperatures range from 36‑40 degrees
- Exposed to heat & cold in all weather conditions
- May be exposed to ammonia & chlorine
