Regional Float Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities
  • Float in a designated region, covering schedules and filling in for the local team.
  • Plan, direct, and evaluate resident and employee health care in long term care.
  • Examine and treat chronic and acute episodic illnesses, minor injuries, accidents, and other injuries/illnesses.
  • Perform selected laboratory testing; offer referrals to physicians; write prescriptions; perform bedside procedures within scope of expertise.
  • Collaborate with the medical director in the care and treatment of residents and staff.
  • Debridement of wounds by sharp, enzymatic, autolytic, or surgical methods.
  • Apply and manage topical wound care and associated products.
  • Recommend associated services to improve wound healing outcomes (labs, radiology, vascular tests, referrals, home health care, VAC device, and orthotics).
  • Interpret diagnostic tests and recommend appropriate follow up.
  • Recommend prescription of required medications and/or Durable Medical Equipment (DME) within scope of practice.
  • Assess diabetic foot ulcer risk for members with diabetes per ADA guidelines.
  • Educate patients on topical and systemic wound management.
  • Educate PCP, CM, or referring physician on current wound management practices.
  • Update PCP, CM, or referring physician on patient’s systemic conditions associated with wound care.
  • Act as resource person for decisions, planning, and policies affecting resident health.
  • Collaborate with staff to identify resident needs and develop plans to meet those needs.
Regional Float Nurse Practitioner Qualifications and Requirements
  • Successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program.
  • Current approval by the Board of Nursing to perform medical acts.
  • Currently licensed as a registered nurse in the state.
  • Current active, unrestricted APRN license in the state of application.
  • Master’s degree of Nursing specializing in Nurse Practitioner programs.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to stand and walk for 4+ hours.
  • Able to lift 100 pounds to assist fallen residents.
  • Able to lift 10 pounds for routine performance of essential functions.
  • Pushing/Pulling 70+ pounds when administering patient care.
  • Bending/squatting/kneeling/twisting when administering patient care.
  • Hearing in order to perform physical assessments (aids permitted).
  • Vision for performing physical assessments (glasses or contacts permitted).
  • Depth perception when performing medical procedures.
  • Fine motor skills for grasping and controlling medical equipment, and to perform precise procedures such as sterile dressing changes.
Travel Requirements
  • Regional travel – minimum of 4 days a week.
  • Travel may be scheduled last minute if coverage is needed.
  • May require overnight stays.
Work Environment
  • Exposed to adverse indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, blood borne pathogens, physical hazards (e.g., needle pricks), and chemical hazards.
Compensation and Schedule

Salary (Total Compensation): $115,000 - $135,000

Bonus Plan: Eligible

Sign-On Bonus: N/A

Schedule: Day shift – Monday to Friday

Location

On the road, travel to Skilled Nursing Facilities across the defined region.
