Job Summary

Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs facility electrical distribution systems, electronics, automation systems, lighting systems, apparatus and devices. Basic skills and knowledge of motor controls, and logic control systems. Qualified candidates should be familiar with low voltage systems, fire alarm systems, and voice and data systems. Position provides quality control using guidelines from the National Electrical Code, local codes, safety regulations and EMCOR standard practices.

• Installs and connects power supply wiring and conduit for lighting, general devices, newly installed machines, and building equipment.
• Troubleshoots and supports production controls and automation components.
• Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, motor starters, MCC panels, MCC circuits, variable frequency drives, and lighting fixtures, and replaces damaged parts, broken wires, cables, and connections.
• Maintains and is responsible for electrical distribution equipment: 3-phase 4-wire 277/480 VAC, 3-phase 4-wire 120/208 VAC, and single-phase 3-wire 120/240 VAC.
• Replaces faulty electronic components such as printed circuit boards, relays, contractors, and control buttons.
• Maintains building lighting, task lighting, parking lot lighting, lighting contractors, emergency lights/exit lights, 120-volt outlets, photoelectric eyes for exterior building lighting, and lighting contractors controlled by the energy management system.
• Plans layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings according to NEC standards.
• Performs preventative maintenance tasks on all electrical utilities and equipment rated 480 volts or less.
• Responsible for accurate and timely paperwork related to essential duties and responsibilities.
• Maintains, organizes, and cleans the shop area and/or service van, including inventory control, tool maintenance, and calibration of testing equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Successfully completed Apprenticeship Program. Must be 21 years old or older.

5 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must possess applicable certifications, licenses, and a valid driver's license.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

The ability to lift 50lbs, climb ladders and ability to walk the facility throughout the day are required. Have the ability to regularly kneel repetitively during shift. Have the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis. Have the ability to work and maneuver on a variety of terrains. Have the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
