Kleinfelder, a long-standing industry leader in the Intermountain West, is looking for a Welding Inspector to join our Maryland Team in Owings Mills

• We’re looking for a person with strong initiative, who will perform routine to complex inspection and testing of welding and steel construction materials in the field, in order to verify conformance to construction plans and specifications. The ability and desire to expand your knowledge and skills into testing and inspection of additional materials is desired.
• The Special Inspector will interact daily with owner and contractor teams to inspect active work projects, will prepare daily reports and data sheets and may be called upon to perform various tasks to meet our client's project goals.

• Bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds (22.68 kg) repetitively and over 50 pounds (22.68 kg) using handling equipment (hand truck, etc.).
• Operate heavy equipment as necessary (i.e., ultrasonic non-destructive testing machine, Skidmore etc.).
• Maintain safe mobility over construction obstacles by foot and ladder, traversing over rough broken ground and steep surfaces.
• Work outside in variable weather at field sites and in labs with various levels of safety protection required.

While much of the work is local to the Office Area assigned, travel throughout the Northeast may be required.

The ideal candidate for this role of Welding Inspector should have the following certifications or experience:

• P rint reading
• Interpreting codes and specifications
• Report writing
• Inspecting structural welding to cod es and specifications (example: AWS D1.1)
• Documenting defects
• Reviewing WPS & PQR
• Commun icate effectively through documentation
• Track and monitor work to ensure compliance with various codes and standards
• Communicate with Clients and Project Managers effectively and in a timely manner
• Utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Utilize an iPad for reporting, timekeeping, email, etc.

• ICC Structural Welding Inspector
• ICC Structural Steel & Bolting Special Inspector

• AWS CWI
• NDT Level II in UT
• NDT Level II in MT
• NDT Level II in PT

General knowledge of MS Office including Word and Excel preferred. Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.

High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree or equivalent desired.
