Job Overview

L&L Incorporated is seeking a detail-oriented CAD Designer / Drafter to create precision-driven technical drawings for the fabrication and installation of railings, fencing, miscellaneous metals, stairs, and landings. This role plays a critical part in bringing complex projects to life‑translating field measurements, codes, and client specifications into accurate drawings that guide our fabrication shop and installation teams. The CAD Designer / Drafter ensures quality, accuracy, and compliance every step of the way, while collaborating with architects, engineers, project managers, and field supervisors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Field Measuring & Site Analysis - Visit job sites to acquire measurements, assess site logistics, and plan for installation needs, including egress and rental equipment requirements.
  • Documentation & Reporting - Take detailed notes and photos to document site conditions and pre-existing issues, reporting findings to clients before project start.
  • Drafting & Design - Prepare CAD drawings for submittals, fabrication, and installation, including elevations, sections, layouts, cut lists, hardware lists, and mounting details.
  • Collaboration - Work directly with architects, engineers, project managers, production managers, and site supervisors to finalize designs and resolve technical details.
  • Standards & Compliance - Ensure drawings align with IBC, ADA, and OSHA codes; create and maintain SOPs for drafting standards.
  • Quality Control - Analyze designs and processes to detect and correct issues before fabrication or installation.
  • Process Support - Assist with estimating by breaking down engineered drawings and ensuring permitting, architectural, and engineering processes remain on schedule.
  • Data Management - Upload finalized drawings to M-Files data management system and maintain accuracy across all project documentation.
Qualifications
  • Education & Experience:
    • Knowledge of commercial construction, welding, and fabrication.
    • Familiarity with raw materials (steel, aluminum, precast concrete).
    • Proficient with AutoCAD, Tekla, Microsoft Office Suite, and project management software.
    • Experience with data management systems (M-Files preferred).
  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Strong grasp of architectural and engineering principles.
    • Ability to apply OSHA safety standards and compliance requirements.
    • Process improvement knowledge and familiarity with machines and tools.

Schedule
  • Full-Time - Monday through Friday
  • Some travel required for field measuring and site visits.
Location
