ABA Therapist – Registered Behavior Technician (Toddler – Elementary) Salary
$18–22 per hour (higher for certified RBTs).
Schedule Details- Part‑time: 10–40 hours/week, with at least 3 evenings per week (3–7 pm) Monday‑Friday.
- Full‑time potential for qualified candidates.
- Settings: homes, schools, community locations across Michigan.
- Start date:
as soon as 40‑hour RBT training is completed.
- Provide 1:1 ABA support using naturalistic, play‑based methods.
- Follow skill development and behavior support plans created by BCBAs.
- Collect meaningful data (frequency, duration, anecdotes) to track progress.
- Support social skills through modeling, prompting, and celebration.
- Use positive reinforcement to encourage skill acquisition.
- Ensure safety while having fun with children.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team (BCBAs, SLPs, OTs) for seamless support.
- Build relationships with families and keep them informed.
- Receive regular coaching, feedback, and professional development from BCBA supervisor.
- Grow skills in child development, psychology, and behavioral science.
- Available to work 15–40 hours per week; at least 3 nights between 4–7 pm.
- Previous experience working with children.
- Completed or willing to complete 40‑hour RBT training before starting; exam fees covered.
- Enrollment (or plan to enroll in) a program in Child Development, Psychology, Education, Speech & Language Pathology, OT, Nursing or related field.
- Reliable transportation to homes and community sites.
- Physical ability to sit, stand, lift up to 50 lb., get down on floor, shift positions quickly.
- A playful spirit and willingness to be silly, creative, spontaneous.
- Genuine warmth that makes kids and families feel safe immediately.
- Observation skills to notice subtle cues.
- Cultural humility respectful of diverse families.
- Patience, flexibility, and adaptability.
- Team‑player energy – clear communication, asking questions, sharing ideas.
- Technical comfort – navigate computers and tablets for data collection.
- Bonus: experience with neurodivergent children, knowledge of behavior strategies, understanding of IEPs, experience with ADLs, teaching through play‑based activities.
- $18–22 per hour; higher for certified RBTs.
- Mileage reimbursement.
- Paid training and RBT exam and application fees covered.
- Support through competency assessment.
