We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze, and optimize mechanical systems and manufacturing equipment. In this role, you will take projects from initial concept through CAD modeling, prototyping, testing, and full production integration. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering, production, and quality teams to enhance machine performance, increase reliability, and solve complex mechanical challenges.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop detailed 3D models, assembly drawings, and schematics using CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, Inventor) applying GD&T standards.
- Perform stress, thermal, and fluid flow calculations using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate design integrity before manufacturing.
- Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical failures in production machinery; implement modifications to extend machine lifespan and efficiency.
- Build, test, and refine physical prototypes, establishing test protocols to verify safety, durability, and performance.
- with process, electrical, and automation engineers to integrate mechanical components into larger automation systems.
- Source mechanical parts, evaluate vendor specs, and track project timelines and capital budgets.
Physical Requirements:
- On-site in a manufacturing environment with exposure to plant operations.
- Exposure to external climate conditions.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.S. or
B.Eng.). - Professional Engineer (P.Eng. / PE) designation or EIT path preferred.
- Experience in mechanical product design, heavy machinery, or industrial manufacturing settings is preferred.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (Solid Works, AutoCAD, or similar) and FEA software.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, material selection, fabrication techniques (machining, welding, sheet metal), and GD&T.
- Experience with both Industrial Refrigeration and HVAC systems would be an asset.
- Logical troubleshooting ability, strong project organization, and clear communication skills for cross-departmental collaboration.
- Criminal Record Checks are required for successful applicants.
- Valid Driver’s License is required.
