Senior Telecommunications Engineer – Jacobs

Base salary range: $ – $ per year. Pay is based on skills, experience, and location.

The Senior Telecommunications Engineer plays a key role in designing and delivering low‑voltage systems for data center buildings, including structured cabling, wireless, audio‑visual, and other low‑voltage systems.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and implementation of structured cabling systems for data center projects.
  • Develop and modify BIM drawings and technical specifications (DIV 27, BICSI, ANSI/TIA, NFPA 70).
  • Conduct site visits, review technical documents, and sign final design packages.
  • Mentor junior team members and collaborate with lead engineers, department managers, and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate project schedules, budgets, and risk mitigation activities.
  • Provide quality assurance and commissioning of telecommunications systems designed by others.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Communication Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience designing or leading structured cabling systems for telecommunications.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam and project management tools.
  • Self‑motivation, excellent communication, and the ability to coordinate across disciplines.
  • Experience responding to RFPs, creating budgets, and maintaining project schedules.
  • PE license required; ability to obtain multiple licenses is a plus.
  • Prior experience in data center design and knowledge of Revit, Navisworks, and low‑voltage systems (security, audio‑visual, wireless) is desirable.
