Let your passion for people be the driver of your success! Chartwells Higher Education is looking for an HR Manager at Miami University of Ohio located in Oxford, OH. This is an on‑site position at a prestigious university on a beautiful, state‑of‑the‑art campus. The HR Manager will utilize their HR knowledge to handle complex issues and administration for a high‑volume Food & Beverage account.
Main responsibilities include full‑cycle recruitment, employee training and development, employee relations, employee engagement, and educating teams on HR policies and procedures.
- Works with management teams to drive employee engagement in line with client goals.
- Facilitates corporate engagement surveys, action planning and year‑over‑year improvement.
- Ensures onboarding practices support associate performance and retention.
- Drives retention through strong employee relations practices.
- Recruits and onboard frontline hires using onboarding and payroll systems.
- Improves recruitment processes, including sourcing, screening, interviewing and pre‑employment procedures, ensuring compliance with the Compass National Recruiting Center (CNRC).
- Ensures background‑check protocols are followed and manages exceptions and escalations.
- Liaison with managers and the Human Resources Service Center (HRSC).
- Establishes best practices and drives consistency in employee relations issues, including terminations and retention strategies.
- Supports EEOC and lawsuit documentation and provides related training.
- Advises managers on employment policies and appropriate practices.
- Manages employee relations, including investigations, coaching and performance issues.
- Ensures all hiring and termination paperwork is filed in a secured environment.
- Assists locations with employee file maintenance to meet state and federal law compliance.
- Ensures I‑9, wage‑hour, safety, worker’s compensation, and leave‑of‑absence compliance.
- Serves as the leave‑of‑absence liaison between employees and the LOA department.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, Hospitality Management, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in HR management.
- Experience in Food & Beverage operations is a plus.
- Strong organizational and computer skills.
