Working closely with the wider team, the successful Accounts Assistant will have the opportunity to work with a varied portfolio of clients, building their understanding across different areas of practice while developing strong client relationships. This is a great opportunity for someone who is ambitious, organised and looking for a long term career within accountancy. As Accounts Assistant, your responsibilities will include :
Preparing year end accounts and financial statements for a varied range of clients Assisting with the preparation of management accounts Supporting with the preparation of personal and business tax returns Assisting with the preparation and submission of VAT returns Liaising directly with clients to obtain information and ensure accounts and returns are completed accurately and on time Maintaining accurate financial records using accounting software such as Xero, Quick Books and Sage Supporting with payroll processing and providing additional cover during particularly busy periods Building positive working relationships with clients and supporting them with day to day queries Providing wider support to the team across a variety of accounting and administrative tasks Continuing to develop your technical knowledge and accounting experience through exposure to a broad range of practice work The ideal Accounts Assistant will have :
Previous experience within an accounts, bookkeeping or accountancy practice environment would be advantageous, although candidates with relevant finance experience will also be considered. You will have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to manage your own workload and work to important deadlines. Strong communication skills will be important, as you will have regular contact with clients and colleagues across the practice.
Experience using accounting software such as Xero, Quick Books or Sage would be beneficial, although full training can be provided. You will be organised, proactive and keen to learn, with a genuine interest in developing your career within accountancy practice. The ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a small and supportive team will be important.
