Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Lodge Receptionist role based at Jesus College in Oxford. The Lodge Receptionist will be the first point of contact for students, staff, visitors, and conference guests, providing a professional and welcoming front-of-house service. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing incoming phone calls, handling enquiries in person and via email, monitoring access to College premises, and directing visitors to the appropriate locations.
The role involves performing reception and clerical duties such as maintaining records, processing mail and deliveries, and supporting the coordination of events and room bookings. The Lodge Receptionist will work closely with College colleagues to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and uphold the College’s standards of service and hospitality.
Qualifications
- Strong Receptionist Duties and Clerical Skills, including handling enquiries, maintaining records, and managing mail and deliveries.
- Excellent Communication and Customer Service skills to interact effectively with students, staff, visitors, and conference guests.
- Professional Phone Etiquette and confidence in managing a busy switchboard or multi-line phone system.
- Ability to remain calm, organized, and attentive in a dynamic front-of-house environment.
- Basic IT skills, including familiarity with email, calendars, and standard office software.
- Previous experience in a reception, hospitality, or customer-facing role is desirable.
- Knowledge of or interest in higher education or college environments is an advantage.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a commitment to providing a welcoming and respectful service to all.
