Ward Clerk

The Ward Clerk post sits on the wards at the Horton General Hospital, part of Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The postholder gives confidential administrative and clerical support to the ward team, keeping systems up to date so patients move smoothly from admission to discharge. The role suits someone who enjoys a challenging, busy setting and works closely with the ward manager and wider staff.

Candidates need experience of difficult situations and strong communication skills, and EPR experience would help.

• Provide confidential administrative and clerical support to the ward team, to departmental and Trust standards
• Keep the ward organised and ensure systems and processes are up to date to support patient care from admission to discharge
• Provide support and guidance to colleagues internally and externally in a professional manner
• Work closely with the ward manager and all relevant staff

• Good general education

• Experience of dealing with difficult and challenging situations
• Developing and implementing admin systems
• Previous secretarial and admin experience

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, dealing sensitively and confidentially with a diverse range of people
• Excellent literacy and numeracy
• Good organisational skills
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint or equivalent
• Creating and organising

• Experience of EPR (Electronic Patient Records)
• Experience with in the NHS or public sector
