We're looking for a Senior Health, Safety & Wellbeing Adviser who brings curiosity, empathy and the confidence to facilitate conversations that make work safer, better and more effective. As a Senior HSW Adviser, you'll:

Facilitate and support-not just enforce

Help operational teams apply I+W principles, using coaching and engagement to strengthen everyday safety.

Build trust across the workforce

Your active listening and people skills will help teams talk openly about what they need to perform safely and successfully.

Drive meaningful assurance and learning

You'll conduct proactive assurance activities, support high quality investigations, and help the project understand how success is truly created.

What you'll be doing
  • Champion the I+W programme across site, promoting inclusive and positive safety cultures
  • Support delivery of I+W tools and encourage teams to focus on practical, ethical and people centred safety outcomes
  • Facilitate Fatal & Severe Risk Assessments as required by the project
  • Lead collaborative conversations to discover what is working well and where improvements may be needed
  • Support positive investigations/appreciative enquiries that explore success rather than faults
  • Facilitate reviews of work as imagined vs. work as done to understand real working conditions
  • Gather feedback from teams and share insights with leadership
  • Coach managers in essential soft skills such as openness, collaboration and active listening
  • Promote innovation and new technologies that enhance project safety performance
  • Support and, where appropriate, lead incident investigations, ensuring timely learning and action closeout
  • Assist in developing local HSW strategies aligned with business priorities
  • Act as a liaison for communications with regulatory bodies
  • Support implementation and assurance of Laing O'Rourke's Safety Management System
  • Identify training needs and help deliver HSW coaching or awareness sessions
What we're looking for
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum Level 4 qualification in Health & Safety (or working toward)
  • Technical knowledge of occupational health, wellbeing and risk management
  • Experience in assurance, auditing and/or incident investigation
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., TechIOSH)
