Job Description

Our goal is to bring the widest benefits to society through enabling the analysis of anything, by anyone, anywhere. The company has developed a new generation of nanopore-based sensing technology for faster, information rich, accessible and affordable molecular analysis. The first application is DNA/RNA sequencing, and the technology is in development for the analysis of other types of molecules including proteins.

The technology is used to understand and characterise the biology of humans and diseases such as cancer, plants, animals, bacteria, viruses, and whole environments. With a thriving culture of ambition and strong innovation goals, Oxford Nanopore is a UK headquartered company with global operations and customers in more than 125 countries.

Oxford Nanopore Technologies, the company delivering a new generation of nanopore-based molecular sensing technology, is seeking a Market Segment Manager for Biopharma. This strategic, global role is focused on driving the adoption of Oxford Nanopore sequencing across the biopharmaceutical value chain, from discovery to development and manufacturing. The successful candidate will lead segment marketing strategy and commercial initiatives across critical application areas, such as biomarker discovery, cell, gene, and RNA therapies, synthetic biology, and quality control in biomanufacturing.

They will play a key role in defining the biopharma market narrative, identifying growth opportunities, and positioning Oxford Nanopore as a transformative technology for both research and regulated environments.

The Details

This role requires a deep understanding of biopharma workflows, regulatory requirements, and market dynamics, along with the ability to navigate scientific and operational challenges faced by customers in this space. Success will depend on close collaboration with commercial, product management, business development, and applications teams, as well as external stakeholders, to align Oxford Nanopore sequencing solutions with evolving industry needs.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute strategic marketing plans to position Oxford Nanopore as a disruptive and enabling platform across the biopharma R&D and manufacturing landscape.
  • Drive market adoption of Oxford Nanopore sequencing for high-impact applications including genomic and epigenomic profiling in biomarker discovery, cell and gene therapies, RNA-based therapeutics, microbial contamination detection, and QC in GMP-regulated environments.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with thought leaders, contract research and manufacturing organizations, and regulatory stakeholders to align commercial initiatives with market needs and evolving standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with commercial, product marketing, business development, applications, and regulatory teams to design and deliver go-to-market strategies that accelerate customer success and revenue growth.
  • Lead the development and execution of targeted marketing campaigns and high-impact commercial content that drives awareness, engagement, and adoption across biopharma segments.
  • Monitor and stay current on biopharma market trends, emerging technologies, and evolving regulatory frameworks to anticipate customer needs, identify strategic opportunities, and inform the positioning of sequencing applications across therapeutic development and manufacturing.
What We’re Looking For
  • Advanced degree (PhD, MSc, or equivalent experience) in genomics, molecular biology, bioengineering, or related field. Industry experience in biopharma is strongly preferred.
  • Expertise in genomics and analytical methods applied to biologics, gene and cell therapies, or vaccine development, with a deep understanding of regulatory expectations and quality control processes in biopharmaceutical environments.
  • Proven track record in B2B marketing, product management, or market development within life sciences or biotech, ideally involving the introduction of disruptive or novel technologies into complex markets.
  • Strategic problem solver with strong execution capabilities, able to identify key priorities, develop global marketing strategies, and…
