Quantity Surveyor

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading PLC residential developer who is looking to appoint an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor to support a new build residential project in Headington, Oxfordshire on an initial 3-month contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven QS to join a well-structured commercial team and hit the ground running on a live scheme.

As Freelance Quantity Surveyor, you'll be responsible for day-to-day commercial management across the project, supporting delivery from a cost and contract perspective. Typical duties will include:

• Managing subcontractor procurement, valuations and payments
• Administering contracts and managing variations / change control
• Supporting cost reporting and forecasting
• Assisting with budget management and cost-to-complete updates
• Working closely with the site and project teams to ensure commercial performance
• Handling interim valuations, final accounts and subcontractor negotiations

Our client is looking for a QS who can step in quickly and add value from day one. The ideal candidate will have:

• Extensive experience as a Quantity Surveyor on new build residential schemes
• Strong knowledge of subcontractor packages and cost control on housing developments
• Local / regional experience in Oxfordshire (or surrounding areas), with a strong understanding of the residential market in the area
• Confident communication skills and the ability to work autonomously
• A professional, solutions-focused approach and strong commercial awareness
