About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Site Manager to join a well-established and growing contractor delivering a variety of new build and refurbishment projects across Oxford and the surrounding region.

This role would suit someone who is looking to take the next step in their construction career. The business is open to considering candidates who are already working as an Assistant Site Manager, as well as strong Working Foremen, Site Supervisors or trade-based candidates from either a carpentry or electrical background who are looking to move further into site management.

You will work closely with experienced Site Managers and Project Managers, supporting the day-to-day running of projects while gaining exposure to programme, subcontractor coordination, health & safety, quality control and client-facing delivery.

The company has a strong pipeline of work across the education, commercial and healthcare sectors, with projects ranging from £500k to £5m. This is a genuine long-term opportunity for someone who wants to develop within a supportive contractor and progress into a more senior site or project management role over time.
The Opportunity This is a great opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Site Manager or trade-based supervisor who wants to build a long-term career in construction management.

You will be joining a contractor that can offer variety, support and progression, with the chance to work on a mix of refurbishment and new build schemes, often within live environments. You will be supported by experienced managers and given the opportunity to grow your responsibilities as your confidence and experience develop.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Site Manager with the day-to-day running of site operations.
Assist with subcontractor coordination, site labour, materials and deliveries.
Help monitor programme, progress, quality and health & safety standards.
Carry out site checks, inductions, toolbox talks and basic reporting.
Support with site logistics, access, cleanliness and general coordination.
Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and the wider project team.
Assist with snagging, finishing works and handover requirements.
Gain experience across new build, refurbishment and live environment projects.

About You

Experience in a site-based construction role.
This could be as an Assistant Site Manager, Site Supervisor, Working Foreman or Trainee Site Manager.
Candidates from a carpentry or electrical trade background will be strongly considered.
Experience working for a main contractor or specialist contractor would be beneficial.
Keen to develop into site management and progress long term.
Good communication skills and a proactive, hands-on approach.
Organised, reliable and willing to learn from experienced site teams.
Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering quality work.
CSCS required.
SSSTS / SMSTS and First Aid would be beneficial, but training may be supported for the right person.
