The Opportunity
Trades Tech Recruitment are working with an established civil engineering contractor delivering a major HS2 civils package in Banbury.
We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a long-term freelance basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven QS to gain further experience on one of the UK's most significant infrastructure programmes, with the potential to move into a permanent position.
You'll work closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor and wider project team, gaining exposure to the full commercial lifecycle of a major civils project.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the commercial management of a major HS2 civils package.
- Assist with applications for payment and commercial reporting.
- Support subcontract procurement, administration and management.
- Review and assess subcontractor applications, valuations and final accounts.
- Assist with the management of variations, compensation events and change.
- Support cost forecasting, reporting and budget control.
- Maintain accurate commercial records and project documentation.
- Work closely with project and site teams to identify and manage commercial opportunities and risks.
- Assist with contractual administration and ensure commercial processes are followed.
- Develop strong working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- 5+ years' experience within Quantity Surveying / Assistant Quantity Surveying.
- Experience working on civil engineering, infrastructure or major construction projects.
- Good understanding of NEC contracts, ideally NEC3 or NEC
4. - Previous exposure to CEMAR would be advantageous.
- Strong understanding of commercial and contractual processes.
- Good knowledge of subcontract management, valuations, change and cost reporting.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A proactive approach with the ability to work effectively as part of a wider commercial team.
- Full UK driving licence.
