The Journalism Fellowship Program 2026-27 at the University of Oxford, Reuters Institute accepts applications from international applicants. This program is for professional journalists and editors who want to return to the news after spending a few months at Oxford.
The Reuters Institute Fellowship is one of the world’s premier programs for mid-career journalists, offering them the opportunity to take a leave from their jobs to study journalism in depth. Journalists will get a better grasp of journalism, the news industry, and their place in it through personal research, seminars, networking events, and discussions with their peers. What does the fellowship cover?
- Fees are covered for successful applicants.
- Applicants will receive a monthly stipend of £2,000, which will cover the cost of housing, food, and other living costs.
- They will also cover the travel costs to and from the United Kingdom and any visa fees.
- Successful applicants will be a pioneering-edge institution that influences key media debates. The Reuters Institute publishes fact sheets and reports on the industry’s significant challenges.
- They will be a part of an organization with a global perspective. Journalist Fellows are selected from all over the world. They exchange ideas and experiences from working in various countries and media.

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the journalism fellowship:
- Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of journalistic experience or equivalent expertise.
- Freelancers are welcome to apply.
- Applicants working in public affairs, PR, or corporate communications are not eligible.
- Open to journalists worldwide, including Europe, Africa, Asia-Pacific, North America, and Latin America.
- No formal test is required, but applicants must actively participate in discussions.
- Fellows should commit to returning to their jobs once their fellowship is over.
