This role is for an experienced Senior VFX Artist who will join a passionate and growing VFX team and work on a large-scale project in Rebellion's proprietary engine “Asura”. The position can be based at any of our studios in Oxford, Warwick or Runcorn. We offer a relocation package, including moving assistance, temporary accommodation, and full support.

The VFX team is responsible for all visual effects developed in Rebellion's games, including particle effects, screen post effects, material effects, mesh destruction effects, and UI effects.

Responsibilities
  • Drive the creation of high-quality real-time visual effects, setting artistic and technical benchmarks for the team
  • Take ownership of complex effects work—from concept to final implementation—ensuring clarity, performance, and visual impact
  • Collaborate with design, art, and code leadership to shape gameplay experiences and maintain a cohesive project vision
  • Mentor and support junior and mid-level artists, sharing best practices and fostering growth across the team
  • Anticipate technical challenges, propose creative solutions, and help establish efficient workflows and pipelines
  • Contribute to documentation, reference gathering, and effect libraries, ensuring resources remain clear and accessible for the wider team
Requirements
  • Proven professional experience in real-time VFX, with a portfolio that demonstrates exceptional timing, clarity, artistry, and technical execution
  • Advanced proficiency with industry-standard tools such as Blender, Photoshop, Substance, and After Effects (or equivalent software)
  • Deep understanding of particle system design, texture workflows, and real-time performance optimisation
