Overview
Applications are invited to apply for the substantive consultant post in the Department of Neurosurgery at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Headington, Oxford. The successful applicant will join a team of Adult and Paediatric Neurosurgery Consultants with a focus on the management of Emergency and Elective Oncological Neurosurgical patients. Appropriate administrative support will be provided for this post.
The Neurological Surgery Department has Academic and Clinical Training programmes. The applicant will be involved in training Specialist Registrars and Neuro-oncology Fellows (in a Royal College of Surgeons of England accredited Fellowship). Close clinical ties with Paediatric Neurosurgery colleagues exist, and teaching and audit are conducted jointly with the Paediatric Neurosurgery service.
Responsibilities- Provide inpatient and outpatient care for neurosurgical patients, including emergency and elective, with a subspecialty focus on neuro-oncology.
- Take part in a non-resident on-call rota with prospective cover; on-call duties require being within ten miles by road from the John Radcliffe Hospital.
- Collaborate with the Neurosciences team and participate in the neuro-oncology MDT (radiologists, oncologists, and Specialist Advanced Nurse Practitioners).
- Work to ensure equal access to clinics, theatres, junior doctor and administrative support, and office space.
- Full registration and licence to practice with the GMC.
- On the GMC Specialist Register via Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or CESR (CP) (proposed CCT/CESR (CP) date must be within months of interview), or CESR/Portfolio pathway, or alternative routes to specialist registration.
- Subspecialty fellowship level training in Oncological Neurosurgery.
