Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our internationally acclaimed Spinal Surgery Team at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The service is undergoing a significant transformation with an expanding workforce, increased theatre capacity and the acquisition of enabling technologies to serve our patients' needs in keeping with our Trust values:

We are looking for two full-time Consultant Spinal Surgeons (one with an interest in Adult tumour surgery and one with an interest in complex Paediatric deformity). The successful applicant will be working in an integrated team of spinal consultants, focusing on the provision of surgery for complex spinal patients and also undertaking adult elective degenerative and emergency spinal surgery for the Thames Valley population.
This will involve inpatient and day case surgery, outpatient clinics, and a 1 in 12 on-call commitment as part of a 24/7 on-call service. Applicants should have subspeciality fellowship level training;
Consultant experience would be desirable but not essential.
- Provide surgical care for complex spinal patients (paediatric deformity or adult spinal pathology as per the subspecialty of the role).
- Involve inpatient and day case surgery, outpatient clinics, and on-call duties as part of a 24/7 service (1 in 12 or 1 in 10 on-call pattern as applicable).
- Collaborate within an integrated team of academic, regional, and neurosurgical colleagues.
- Engage in activity related to research and service quality improvement where there is demonstrable interest.
