Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as an Instruction Aide in Special Education at Elk Ridge. This part‑time position involves supporting students with diverse learning needs to help them achieve their educational goals. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers and other staff members to create a positive and inclusive learning environment, fostering the growth and development of all students.
Responsibilities- Assist the lead teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Support students in academic tasks, including reading, writing, and math, while adapting materials as necessary.
- Provide behavioral support and guidance to students, promoting positive social interactions and conflict resolution.
- Monitor student progress and report observations to the teacher, helping to adjust instructional strategies as needed.
- Facilitate small group activities and one‑on‑one instruction to reinforce learning objectives.
- Assist with classroom management, ensuring a safe and organized learning environment.
- Help students with daily living skills, including personal hygiene and self‑care, as required.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in special education.
- Collaborate with other educators, specialists, and support staff to create a cohesive educational experience for students.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to school policies and procedures regarding student information.
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or higher in education or related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with children, particularly in a special education setting, is highly desirable.
- Understanding of various disabilities and learning challenges, along with effective strategies for supporting students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow directions from the lead teacher.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to support learning.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is a plus.
- Background check clearance as required by school policies.
