Overview

The Fellows of University College, Oxford, will elect a new Master in June 2026, to take up office on 1 August 2027 and to succeed Baroness Valerie Amos, who will step down from her role on 31 July 2027.

Founded in 1249, University College – affectionately known as Univ – is one of Oxford’s oldest foundations, combining a rich heritage with a modern, inclusive outlook. We are committed to academic excellence, merit‑based admission, and the tutorial system that defines Oxford. Today, Univ is home to a vibrant community of undergraduates, graduates, and Fellows, united by a shared pursuit of knowledge and a strong sense of belonging.

The College seeks a Master who will lead and inspire us in our next chapter. Univ is a dynamic and innovative college that believes traditions thrive when paired with progress.
