We're looking for an organised and collaborative Common Room Support Coordinator to help strengthen student representation and support for common room leaders across shared areas of challenge.

What is a common room?

Common rooms are the representative bodies for each of the Colleges at Oxford University. They advocate for undergraduate and postgraduate students within their colleges. They also serve as important community-building spaces. With over 70 common rooms across Oxford, students are typically automatically members of their college common room, and Oxford SU works closely with these bodies to support student representation across the University.

This is a unique new role within our Student Engagement Team; our team is focused on engaging and empowering our community of more than 27,000 students at the University of Oxford.

What you’ll do:
  • Coordinate and deliver Oxford SU's support for over 70 common rooms across the University
  • Oversee the Conference of Common Rooms (CCR) and support common room engagement with SU democratic processes
  • Design and deliver training, guidance and resources for common room representatives
  • Support common room committees with elections, governance, handovers and representative activity
  • Build relationships with common rooms, colleges and student leaders across Oxford
  • Gather feedback and insight to continuously improve support and representation

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of student representation ’ll play a key role in supporting common room leaders, strengthening democratic engagement and ensuring students have a strong voice within their colleges and the wider University.

Contract type:
Full-time, fixed-term for 1 year (with possibility for extension)

Working hours and location: 37.5 hours per week. Based at 4 Worcester Street, Oxford. We expect staff to be on-site 60% of the week and up to 100% during term time.
