Overview
The University of Cambridge Centre for Gender Studies, located in the Department of Politics & International Studies (POLIS) and Peterhouse, is appointing an Isaac Newton Trust Academic Career Development Fellow in Gender Studies and Human, Social, and Political Sciences. The Fellowship provides a new opportunity for exceptional scholars to contribute to both research and teaching within a Faculty and College environment, offering excellent preparation for subsequent academic appointments at Cambridge or elsewhere.
Responsibilities- Protected time for an independent research project;
- Embedded in a Faculty research and teaching culture;
- Teaching in Colleges in small groups;
- Act as a College Director of Studies for students choosing to take papers in Politics;
- Teaching undergraduate and/or Masters students in a Faculty setting;
- Mentored by Faculty members in academic skills such as teaching, research, publication, grant applications, and academic administration.
Eligible candidates will be at an early stage of their career, typically with less than three years’ experience post‑PhD or equivalent, excluding any career breaks. Applicants must either already hold a PhD, have an equivalent qualification, or have submitted their doctoral dissertation by the Final date to receive applications.
Applicants should provide a short statement of current and future research plans, and a chapter or article demonstrating research interests. They should demonstrate an appetite for enquiry, enthusiasm for teaching at all levels, and the ability to balance competing priorities and build effective relationships with students, academic and professional staff across the collegiate University.
