Part-time Adult Education Tutor

We are seeking an engaging, motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Forensic Mental Health Service as an Adult Education Tutor
. This role will be based across the Forensic Service at the Littlemore Hospital Site, Oxford and is part‑time, working 30 hours per week.

• Tutor and assess learners, delivering group and/or individual sessions.
• Work efficiently to meet individual and service targets and accreditation quality requirements.
• Operate autonomously as a member of the Thames Valley Forensic Mental Health Service.
• Develop, agree and review Individual Learning Plans, and monitor progress to support award achievement within agreed time scales.
• Maintain effective records of assessment and training practice in the electronic systems used.
• Contribute to quality assurance of awards and delivery programmes, revising and implementing changes as recommended by Awarding Body External Verifiers.
• Develop materials and lesson plans for service users requiring underpinning training, work‑based and vocational qualifications, and internal certificates.
• Take responsibility for own continual professional development.
• Provide feedback on practice deficiencies or policy gaps.
• Ensure internal teaching/training rooms are fully equipped and functional in line with in‑house procedures.
• Engage with supervision as per Trust policy.

• Ability to travel independently between sites within the Trust is essential.

• Further and Adult Education Teachers Certificate or equivalent.
• Recognised English/Maths qualifications at Level 3 or above.
• Recognised specialist qualification at Level 4/5 (at least diploma level).
• Experience working with learners who have severe mental illness/learning disabilities.
• Experience delivering learning opportunities as part of a team in a Forensic Mental Health setting.
• Completion of audits and contributions towards service development.
• Use of IT systems.
• Excellent communication with people from diverse backgrounds and complex needs.

Salary: £39,959 – £48,117 per annum (pro rata)
