Overview

Behaviour Support Assistant - Oxford. A specialist school in Oxford is seeking a compassionate, resilient, and emotionally attuned Behaviour Support Worker to support children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs. Many of the students have experienced trauma, neglect, adverse childhood experiences, and disrupted educational journeys, and in turn require consistent, nurturing support to help them feel safe, regulated, and ready to learn.

This is a rewarding role where you will support vulnerable students with emotional regulation, confidence, communication skills and help them develop positive coping strategies. The school follows and supports a trauma-informed, restorative approach where behaviour is understood as communication linked to unmet needs and past experiences.

• Support students with emotional regulation, behaviour support and conflict resolution
• Build and facilitate a safe, fun and engaging learning environment for students to thrive
• Help students to develop resilience, self-esteem and social skills, as well as healthy coping strategies
• Promote positive routines, emotional safety and consistent boundaries
• Record observations and contribute to individual support and behaviour plans
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists and families

Experience working with children or young people with behavioural, emotional or mental health needs is desirable but not essential.
