Associate Professor (APTF) – Louise Johnson Associate Professorship of Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry

Department of Biochemistry in association with St Catherine’s College, University of Oxford.

Responsible for leading innovative, independent programmes in cell biology, including genome stability, cell signalling, differentiation, cellular architecture and mechanobiology. Work will be carried out in one of our interdisciplinary research themes that combine biochemical, biophysical and computational approaches to advance major questions in cell & developmental biology, genetics, microbiology, human health and infectious disease processes.

• Develop and maintain a well‑funded, independent research programme.
• Secure grant funding and manage research budgets.
• Supervise PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and undergraduate assistants.
• Teach and deliver teaching materials for the 4‑year Masters‑level degree course in Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry and act as a Tutorial Fellow at St Catherine’s College.
• Contribute to departmental and college administration, outreach and widening access programmes.
• Promote an ethical, inclusive research culture and support career development for all staff and students.

• Doctorate and post‑doctoral experience in a biologically related science.
• Internationally recognised research record or a clear potential to achieve one, demonstrated through impactful publications appropriate to your career stage.
• Ability and willingness to develop and lead an independent research programme and secure research funding.
• Commitment to teaching and inspiring undergraduate students from all backgrounds.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

Salary – Grade 10a: £57,986 to £77,366 per annum, increasing to the top of the scale, plus a college housing allowance and additional benefits.
