History Teacher

Location: Wheatley, OX33

Contract: Part-time, 4 days

Salary: MPS / UPS

Start Date: October half-term 2026

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and passionate History Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school, where you ll inspire students to explore the past, develop critical thinking skills, and foster a lifelong interest in history.

This is an exciting opportunity to deliver engaging and thought-provoking lessons, helping students understand historical events, cultures, and societies while encouraging them to become confident, analytical learners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and inclusive History lessons in line with the National Curriculum.
  • Create a positive and stimulating classroom environment that encourages curiosity, discussion, and independent thinking.
  • Assess, monitor, and record students  progress, using assessment data to inform planning and support individual learning needs.
  • Encourage students to develop strong analytical, research, and source evaluation skills through a range of historical topics.
  • Promote positive behaviour and maintain high expectations in line with the school s behaviour policy.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community to support student progress and wellbeing.
  • Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.

  • Committed to supporting every student s academic achievement and personal development.
  • A confident and effective classroom practitioner with excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Able to inspire students through creative teaching and a genuine enthusiasm for the subject.
  • Professional, reliable, and adaptable in their approach to teaching.
  • Dedicated to creating an inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued, supported, and challenged to achieve their full potential.
