Are you a Psychology or Criminology graduate looking to gain hands-on experience before pursuing a career in Clinical Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Educational Psychology, Mental Health, Social Work, Counselling, or Youth Justice?

A specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) School in Oxford is seeking a passionate and dedicated Mental Health Assistant to support students aged 11-16 with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop practical experience working with vulnerable young people in a highly rewarding setting while building the skills needed for future postgraduate study or professional training.

As a Mental Health Assistant, you will:

• Support students with social, emotional and mental health needs both in and out of the classroom.
• Build positive, therapeutic relationships that promote emotional wellbeing and resilience.
• Assist with therapeutic interventions, group activities and emotional regulation strategies.
• Encourage positive behaviour and help students develop social and coping skills.
• Work alongside experienced teachers, therapists and pastoral staff within a specialist SEMH setting.
• Gain invaluable experience supporting young people with complex behavioural and emotional needs.

• Confidence working with young people who may display challenging behaviour.
• Previous experience supporting children or vulnerable individuals is desirable, whether through schools, youth work, sports coaching, care work or volunteering.
