Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with special educational needs and considering a career in teaching?

Our two-year Salaried Future Teacher Programme gives you the opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in an SEND setting, earn a salary and work towards becoming a qualified teacher.

Rather than moving straight into formal teacher training, you'll spend your first year working within a school and gaining valuable experience supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.

You’ll develop your confidence, communication skills and understanding of SEND before progressing into formal teacher training in your second year.

Your Two-Year Journey

You’ll join a school in the Oxford/Bicester area and gain valuable experience working with pupils with a range of special educational needs.

You’ll:

• Support pupils with their learning and development.
• Work alongside teachers, teaching assistants and SEND professionals.
• Support pupils with additional needs, including communication, learning and behavioural needs.
• Help create a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Develop your understanding of individual learning needs.
• Build positive and supportive relationships with pupils.
• Observe experienced teachers and learn effective classroom strategies.
• Take part in training and professional development.
• Develop the confidence and skills needed to progress into teacher training.

The first year is designed to give you a realistic understanding of working in an SEND environment while allowing you to build the practical skills needed for your future teaching career.

Having gained valuable experience, you’ll progress into a trainee teacher role and begin your formal teacher training.

You’ll:

• Plan and deliver lessons suited to the needs of your pupils.
• Develop your teaching approach and classroom practice.
• Adapt learning and resources to support individual needs.
• Assess pupil progress and provide appropriate feedback.
• Work closely with an experienced mentor.
• Continue developing your understanding of SEND and inclusive teaching.
• Complete your PGCE.
• Work towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Prepare for your first position as a fully qualified teacher.

• A bachelor’s degree in any subject.
