Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Do you have the patience, empathy and enthusiasm to make a real difference to students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)?

We are looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Oxford, working closely with students who have complex learning and communication needs.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will provide individualised support to students, helping them access learning, develop their independence and enjoy a positive experience at school.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to students with PMLD and complex needs.
  • Supporting students with their learning, communication and personal development.
  • Using a range of communication approaches, including visual aids, symbols and sensory-based activities.
  • Helping students engage with classroom activities and the wider school environment.
  • Supporting students with personal care and mobility where required.
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals to deliver personalised support.
  • Promoting students' confidence, independence and wellbeing.
  • Creating a calm, safe and nurturing environment where every student can thrive.

  • A strong team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Previous experience working with PMLD, complex SEND, autism or severe learning difficulties is highly desirable, although relevant transferable experience will also be considered.
