Position: 477326 – Brokerage Officer

Work Pattern: 7.40 per day

PAYE Pay Rate:£18.44 - £19.96 per hour

Main Purpose of the Role

To provide a professional Children's Brokerage and placement-finding service, working closely with social workers, families and external providers to identify and secure suitable placements for children and young people.

The role will manage complex placement requests, negotiate with providers, maintain accurate records and support effective outcomes for children and young people.

Typical Day
  • Manage and coordinate children's placement requests and enquiries.
  • Source suitable placements and liaise with external providers.
  • Negotiate availability, suitability and placement costs.
  • Work closely with social workers, families and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Manage multiple cases and prioritise urgent placement needs.
  • Update placement management systems and maintain accurate records.
  • Monitor data, KPIs and placement activity using Excel and relevant systems.
  • Support challenging conversations and resolve placement issues.
  • Identify creative solutions for complex placement requirements.
  • Provide updates and information to relevant professionals and managers.
Key Skills & Responsibilities
  • Direct Children's Brokerage experience is essential.
  • Strong placement-finding and provider negotiation skills.
  • Experience managing complex caseloads and competing priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to negotiate and influence providers effectively.
  • Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Teams and SharePoint.
  • Experience using placement management systems such as CONTROCC.
  • Ability to analyse data, monitor KPIs and produce reports/dashboards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Understanding of Children's Social Care and SEND.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and challenging situations professionally.
Essential Requirements
  • Previous direct experience in Children's Brokerage is essential.
  • Experience sourcing or arranging placements for children and young people.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Children's Social Care.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation, policies and safeguarding requirements.
  • Experience working with social workers, providers and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Experience managing complex cases and maintaining accurate records.
  • Good IT, data analysis and spreadsheet skills.
  • Awareness of SEND and the needs of vulnerable children and young people.
  • Flexible and willing to attend the office more frequently when required.
  • Enhanced DBS required
